My deer boy

Back to my minis.. we have a cute little boy who likes to wear his deer costume all of the time.

He's actually much tinier than he looks in the pics - just 1 inch, deer horns included.

He wears a simple blue scarf, to protect him from the cold of the Northern woods, and has a jointed neck which allows gentle posing. Hope you will like him!

PS: the situation here is still critical, and we were awoken by another tremor in the middle of the night. Again, thank you all for your kindness and care.

Good luck

Black cats are sometimes said to bring bad luck - which obviously is not true at all.

I am posting this tiny black kitten as a wish of good luck in such a hard moment. Tremors keep going on, and despite we're in late spring, it keeps raining. This is making it even worse for the thousands of people who lost their homes in the earthquake.

Thank you all for your care and concern.

Artisans I love: Shelly from Gingermelon

Preamble: today was a tragic day in Italy. A second major earthquake hit the country, and we still do not know how many people died in the event. Minor tremors keep going on, many railways and bridges are still closed, and our nerves are rather on edge. We're not really in danger - there were only little damages in our city - but, as you can imagine, this is a very serious moment.

I had already planned this post about the lovely work of Shelly, and I decided to publish it anyway - beautiful little things can help minds taking off for a while. Hope you will like her sweet patterns and plushes - I certainly do, they always make me want to take a needle and some felt, and start sewing some cute little creature.

The bulb gnomes

Same old story, whenever I create some miniature creature, I start feelin' the need of going tinier and tinier. : )

Remember my gnome terrariums? They already were small enought to be worn as earrings or pendants, but.. I just couldn't resist! Here's the "gnomes in the bulbs", much smaller than grains of rice and therefore able to fit into a vial which neck is no larger than 1/8 of an inch! :D

What if a tiny fairy is no bigger than a grain of rice?

Sure she can not hang around without the risk of being hurt.. neither she wants to renounce to her favourite pink flower. The solution? Keeping the both of them safe on the bottom of a tiny bottle! : )

Middle of nowhere

Back from my mountain weekend. 

While I was there, Italy was hit by a stong earthquake - which woke us in the middle of the night. Since we were staying in a very remote place, with no tv nor phone - and where mobiles do not work - we didn't know anything about the serious consequences of the earthquake until we got back.

Hence, we had a very quiet time, with sunny days and rainy nights. We did quite a lot of gardening, had some walks in the woods and cooked simple, natural meals.

I also had the chance to do my first outdoor shooting with my Pukifee Flora, and I hope you will like the result.

The fairy ring

This miniature art ring is currently one of the most complex projects I ever worked on, the final result of many, many hours of work.

The tiny fairy is just 5/8 of an inch in height, but still so cute and detailed. 

Both the background plants and the tiny flower crown have been carefully handmade by me. Each white blossom is less than half an eight of an inch..more or less like a sugar grain!

The pixie has been handpainted with acrylic paints, and the intricate design of her wings has been enhanced with both golden paint and iridescent powder. Her eyes have been glazed for protection, giving her a more realistic appearence. 

I am so fond of the final result! : ) But a bit sad that - as often happens - my compact digital camera was definitely not enough powerful to catch every tiny detail of this fairy.. maybe it's time that I get a new one? :D
