January moments

A few highlights from the last month.. hope you'll enjoy! : )

Preamble: I spent most of the past New Year's Eves at my parent's place. They usually stay out of town for a few days, so they need someone to stay at home and keep an eye on my (now 95 year old) grandma (can we call it grannysitting?).
And since my boyfriend and I are not exactly a party couple, so far we happily celebrated almost every year with a quiet and intimate dinner at home.

But since now we live in a different country, we finally accepted an invitation for a little party with friends. And that is the reason why a usually casual/scruffy person like me is wearing a gold sequined mini dress in these pics. : )

Did I mention that the host was a French chef? ; P
Aww.. those scallops were spectacular and delicious! : )

And despite the party being pleasantly quiet, we ended up in a rather lethargic mood for a few days.
I spent most of the time wrapped up in my new pijama, while my bf was reading and baking most of the time (ah, the adventurous life..) : )

I also got myself the Swedish version of one of my favourite choldren books, "Momo" by Michael Ende (have you read it? a curious little girl, a time travelling tortoise and some scary Grey Men stealing the time of human beings.. forty years after the first edition, it's still an enchanting adventure!)

Still snowing a lot, and there's often ice on the bathroom's window - and I just love the intricate frozen patterns!

There's always something interesting to be found in a snowy garden..

..but the duck pond in the park is nice too, in a sunny morning..

..and yes, Swedish winter sky can be like that. : )

But the weather is of course very cold, and hot tea is much much needed every day (expecially if it comes in a super colorful, cheerful packaging, such as this one. A lovely gift from our friends in Berlin! ^__^ )

Oh, and I also made quite a lot of new minis - wasn't this blog supposed to be micro creations, after all? ; )
I'll post them soon, I promise!

Thank you for stopping by,
big hugs,

Mijbil

Out with the girls, part 1

Still snowing quite a lot here in Sweden, and this morning someone made a snowman in our garden! : )
I shot these pics a few days ago, while trying to catch the beauty of the late afternoon light. Even if in the beginning I was a bit terrified of bringing my delicate, fragile little dolls out in the snow, after a while I was able to relax and have fun shooting outdoor. And a tiny robin kept us company flying from tree to tree! : )

Hope you had a fantastic weekend. I'll post the rest of the pics soon. In the meanwhile, I wish you a lovely incoming week, and I leave you with a little update of my Munny progress. : )

Big hugs,

Mijbil

A new project

Hi everyone! : )
I'm finally back here, with a lot of things going on and a brand new project I am super excited about!
I've always been fashinated by customizable art toys, and after a long indecision I got myself a mini Munny. He came to me all white, chubby and smooth, as you can see in the pic above. Ain't he cute?

Right before purchasing him, I surfed a bit through the net looking for inspiration. All of the following Munnies have been customized by talented artists. Toy customization can include sculpting, painting, cutting, sewing and so on. And I have seen any kind of material involved, from wood to fabric, from plastic to metal.
Here's some of my favourites!

An adorable bunny-Munny from A Little Stranger

This strange little monster is from NeverCrew

Cute and colorful, this Mutze Munny comes from the talent of BukuBuku

I found this amazing customized Munny from Kerry Dyer on the Kidrobot (the company who produces these toys) Flickr page..

..along with this adorable Snow Ball by Dolly Oblong.

And even if the slightly creepy versions can be lovely too..

..I think I'll try to get a sweet, cheerful character, like this adorable guy with his nordic jumper. : )

Since it's my very first time working with vinyl, I chose a simple project - or, to be precise, a project that looked simple enough to me. Not so sure anymore, I have to admit! : )
Anyway, this 4 inches little guy is supposed to become a cute faun. I will sculpt his hair, hooves and horns out of polymer clay. Here you can see the first step (just a sketch of his legs and pointy ears)..

..and some fluffy hair on his belly!

Hope I'll be able to post more pics soon. I will keep you updated! : )

One last thing, today it's my best friend's birthday. And since I know for sure he reads this blog (and probably much disapproves), well I want to wish him a much happy almost-30th birthday! :D

Porcelain trains and candy canes

Swedish Christmas time apparently begins at the end of November, and seems to fade away around middle january. And, in fact, a couple days ago the giant Christmas trees in our garden were finally removed.

So, these pics are just meant for me to fight back Christmas nostalgia. : )
With a cup of warm tea in my hands, and the snow silently falling outside, I really feel like I could afford the whole holiday season once again. : )

Thank you for the heart-warming feedback to my last post! I was - as usual - a bit scared to share such personal information on a blog, and it was a big, big joy for me to read all of your nice and encouraging comments. Thank you so much! : )

PS: sorry about the little blackout. December was both thrilling and exhausting, and after publishing 27 posts within a month I needed a little break from blogging. And now it's sooooo nice to be back! : )
